What Fretwork stores, and where
Everything you do in Fretwork — your drill history, accuracy on each fret, streak, sprint bests, and settings — is stored only on your own device.
If you are signed in to iCloud, this same progress syncs privately between your devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple's iCloud service. That data belongs to you and is protected by your Apple account; we have no server, no database, and no way to see, access, or receive any of it.
The microphone
Fretwork has an optional “answer with your instrument” mode that listens for the note you play. If you turn it on, audio from the microphone is analyzed on your device, in the moment, purely to detect the pitch being played. Nothing is recorded, nothing is stored, and no audio ever leaves your device.
The microphone is used only while a drill that supports it is on screen, and the feature is off by default. You can revoke microphone access at any time in system Settings.
What Fretwork does not do
Fretwork contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and no third-party software. The app does not require an account, does not ask for your name or email, and makes no network requests of its own. It works fully offline.
Purchases
The optional one-time “Fretwork Forever” purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Purchase records are managed by Apple and tied to your Apple account, which is how the unlock restores across your devices.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily practice reminder, that notification is scheduled locally on your device by the system. Nothing about it leaves your device.
The widget
The home-screen widget reads your streak and progress from storage shared privately between the app and the widget on your device. It displays that data and does nothing else with it.
Children
Fretwork is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.
Deleting your data
Your data lives on your device and in your personal iCloud account. Deleting the app from all of your devices removes it. There is nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing.
Changes to this policy
If Fretwork's behavior ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated before that version of the app is released, with a new effective date above.
